Nordea Asset Management (NAM), part of Group Nordea, based in the Nordic region, has opened an international hub in Oeiras, Lisbon, for the company’s asset management activities and to serve its clients in southern Europe and Latin America. “We found that Portugal, a member of the European Union, offers many assets such as a large talent pool with a high level of English-speaking skills, thanks to renowned universities, a growing fintech ecosystem and easy access from other key European locations and Latin America”, states Christophe Girondel, NAM’s Portugal CEO.

Smart crosswalks developed in Portugal
 
Smart crosswalk
 
The SiWalk, developed by Yunex Traffic Portugal, is a smart lighting system that automatically detects the approach of a pedestrian, by lighting the crosswalk when someone is crossing. Iceland has become one of the first adopters of this technology. Italian group Atlantia, controlled by the Benetton family, recently acquired Yunex Traffic from Siemens Mobility.

Portugal recorded the highest GDP increase in the 1st quarter of 2022, +2.6% when compared to the previous quarter, and +11.9, when compared with the same quarter of the previous year.
