swiss Post opens IT development site in Lisbon |

The Swiss National Post Service has chosen Lisbon to establish its first IT campus outside Switzerland, focused on digitalising logistics operations and expanding data analytics and cyber security skills. The IT Campus will employ 50 IT specialists in 2023 and plans to reach 150 in the coming years.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) will set up a centre of excellence in Porto for new technologies and entrepreneurship in health, the Portuguese Minister of Health announced. It will be the first WHO world office dedicated to Technology, Robotics and Entrepreneurship in Health.

London-based regulatory technology company Clausematch opened an office in Lisbon with a team specialized in engineering and product development. "We intend to expand a strong Portuguese team to support our client projects globally", said the CEO and founder Evgeny Likhoded. "Lisbon will provide a unique outlet for our engineering team, as it is quickly becoming an established tech outlet in Western Europe".

Raketech opens hub in Lisbon

Maltese company Raketech, which operates in the iGaming industry, opened a hub in Lisbon. "Today Portugal is growing rapidly, attracting startups and investors from various parts of the world and fast becoming one of Europe’s best locations for technology companies", the company said in a press release.

EUROPE'S biggest solar plant to be built in Portugal

Iberdrola secured environmental approval to build Europe's largest PV plant, the fifth largest worldwide. The 1,200-MW Fernando Pessoa solar project is located in Santiago do Cacém, near Sines, and its construction will generate up to 2,500 jobs. Iberdrola plans to invest an additional €3 billion in wind and solar energy in Portugal over the coming years.

IBM to open its fifth tech centre in Portugal

IBM announced it will open a new tech centre in Portugal in 2023. The location is yet to be confirmed, but at least 150 to 200 new jobs will be created within the first year. This will be the fifth tech centre IBM establishes in Portugal, following the ones in Tomar, Viseu, Fundão and Portalegre. IBM also has a Shared Service Centre in Braga.

Eurowind Energy to invest over €400M in Portugal

Danish multinational Eurowind Energy has inaugurated its second solar park for electricity production in Portugal this year. The company wants to invest more than €400 million in the country by the end of the decade, including small production photovoltaic parks in Covilhã, Castelo Branco, Mafra, Vouzela and Bragança, with a total installed power of 50 MW.
